How is 5G different?

With 5G reaching 10 gigabits per second - 100 times faster than 4G - 5G networks can provide the level of performance needed for a fast connected society.  ... Downloading a high definition movie on a 4G network, for example, takes an average of 50 minutes - on 5G, it only takes nine minutes.

5G economic impact?

5G has the potential to create or transform 16 million jobs in all sectors of the economy, including full-time, part-time and temporary jobs *.  ... 5G will add up to $ 1.5 trillion to US GDP, more than 94% of the annual GDP of global economies.  Multiplication effects will be felt in every industry.

The key finding is that 5G-powered technology could generate an additional 1.5 1.5 trillion in eight key industries by 2030, with 5G having the biggest impact on the manufacturing, energy and extractive, and transport and distribution industries.

What is being used?

South Korea, China and the United States are the world leaders in building and deploying 5G technology. Telecommunication operators around the world - including AT&T Inc., KT Corp, and China Mobile - are vying to build the fifth generation (5G) of wireless technology.

South Korea is the first country to deploy 5G networks and is expected to stay ahead as far as technology access is concerned. By 2025, about 60% of mobile subscriptions in South Korea are expected to be for 5G networks.
